When RPG choices actually matter (and when they're fake)
Mobile RPGs love to promise 'meaningful choices,' but a lot of them just swap a line of dialogue and funnel you back to the same outcome. So how do you tell the real thing?
The clearest sign is when a choice changes who's in your party or which areas you can reach. Ashfall Legion does this well; a decision early on locked me out of a whole questline and opened a different one.
Another tell is consequences that show up hours later. If an NPC remembers something you did in act one, the game is tracking your story, not faking it.
My tip: don't reload every time you don't like an outcome. RPGs like these are more interesting when you live with your mistakes.
